In Florence, a city that has inspired artists and creatives for centuries, you will embark on a journey full of sets, stories, images, and people. FMA offers aspiring videomakers comprehensive training in audiovisual production for cinema, TV, and digital platforms: directing, editing, cinematography, screenwriting, sound, distribution, production, law, commercial practice, and much more.
You will work on real projects within the FMA Studios: spaces equipped with highly professional equipment where you can gain hands-on experience and truly understand what it means to work in this industry.

Editing
Editing is the final phase of the narration: with our course you will learn about editing programmes, how to import and export files efficiently, how to synchronise audio and video, various techniques for colour correcting and everything you need to become a professional editor.

Directing
The directing course is developed by analyzing the creative process in making an audiovisual product: who the director is and his role in the stages of film production, the importance of framing, practical lessons on how to make a set, and all that revolves around the role of the director.

Cinema photography
The course provides you with the essential knowledge for becoming a director of photography: learn about a video camera and how to use it, the importance of different lenses, the rules of composition and exposition. Practical lessons on how to set the lighting to create the right atmosphere.

Screenwriting
This course focuses on the different phases of screenwriting: from the initial idea to the final stages, storytelling, different genres, characterisation, dialogue and the importance of an effective ending.

Production
During this course you will learn about the various phases of production, roles on set, production and distribution companies, how to participate in a festival and more: organisation on set, planning work schedules and all that concerns production on set.

How are class schedules organized?
Focus Movie Academy’s training tracks include different attendance modes designed to fit the needs of students:

Focus Pro: about 25 hours per week

Focus Standard: about 10 hours per week

Focus Lab: about 3 hours per week
This structure allows you to choose the most suitable path based on your educational goals, available time and desired level of commitment.
Is attendance compulsory?
For the course Focus Pro, attendance is not formally mandatory. However, attendance of less than the 75% results in the loss of access to the job placement guarantee stipulated in the enrollment contract.
For the courses Focus Standard and Focus Lab, attendance is not compulsory but strongly recommended, as it allows you to gain more skills and increase your chances of working in the film and audiovisual industry.
Are there exams to be taken during the course?
Yes, examinations are provided in the Focus Pro and Focus Standard tracks, while the Focus Lab has no examinations.

There are two appeals for each subject.
You can repeat the grade only once.
All subjects must be passed to complete the course. - Focus Standard
There is a single exam for passing to the next grade, which assesses the skills acquired in the various disciplines. - Focus Lab
No formal exams.

Focus Pro
The Focus Pro pathway guarantees, upon completion of the two-year or three-year course, a paid and contracted employment opportunity, as provided at the time of enrollment.
Students participate in professional projects and have the opportunity to present their work in major international settings, developing a strong network in the field.
The course trains complete professionals for film, television, advertising, social media and digital content production.
Actors are trained as all-around performers, with outlets in performing arts, entertainment and performing arts.
Focus Standard
It offers a solid preparation for entering the entertainment and audiovisual world, though without the employment guarantees of Focus Pro.
Focus Lab
It is a practical in-depth course useful for developing skills and enriching one’s professional profile.

Is it possible to study and work at the same time?
Yes, it is possible, especially in the more flexible pathways.
The courses Focus Standard and Focus Lab make it easy to balance study, work and personal commitments.
The route Focus Pro Instead, it requires more intense involvement. In some cases it can be combined with a work activity, but it is recommended for those who can devote themselves primarily to training.
When does enrollment close?
Registration is always open, but places are limited.
Each class has a maximum of 20 students.
When the maximum number is reached, enrollment is closed, even if the academic year has not yet begun.
Classes begin at November, so we recommend registering as early as possible.
By booking in advance, it is also possible to access scholarships and financial benefits at certain times, especially for the Focus Pro track.
Do I have to audition or already have experience in the field to enter the courses?
No, no audition or previous experience is required.
The courses are also open to those starting from scratch, thanks to a hands-on method based on “learning by doing.”
An interview is scheduled for the Focus Pro pathway, which is also useful for accessing scholarships and discounts.
Places are limited, so we recommend moving early.

Yes, you can choose different payment methods, with installment solutions from 1to 12 monthly installments.

Is it possible to unsubscribe?
The membership contract is valid for one year and is subject to automatic renewal.
Notice of termination can be given by July 15 of each year until the degree is obtained.
Otherwise, the conditions in the contract apply.
