PRO
The three-year academic programme that formalises your entry into the industry, with a genuine employment contract guaranteed from the moment you enrol.
ACTING COURSE FOCUS
STANDARD
A programme with a more flexible schedule, designed to help you develop complete confidence on stage and master the craft through participation in real productions.
ACTING COURSE FOCUS
lab
A 3-hour weekly workshop, held in the evenings or at weekends, designed for working professionals and enthusiasts who wish to explore acting with maximum flexibility.
ACTING Focus PRO
Duration: 3 years
Weekly hours: 25 (Monday to Friday)
Course duration: classes from November to April, followed by group project work from May to June

Entry Requirements: A secondary school diploma. International students must demonstrate Italian language proficiency at B1 level or above. No previous experience or industry-specific skills are required.

Our acting course in Florence guides you through a practical, intensive, and deeply personal journey.
With the Focus Pro programme, you will explore acting from every angle: from on-camera performance and voice training to improvisation, script analysis, and audition preparation.
At Focus Movie Academy, you will develop into a versatile actor and performer, ready not only for film but also for television series, social media, and digital content.
During the 3-year course, you will also participate in multi-day workshops with guest teachers from the film industry and, thanks to our industry partnerships, you will have the opportunity to showcase your talent at events such as Cannes and the Venice Film Festival.
Finally, thanks to FMA’s partnerships, you can sign a professional contract from the moment you enrol, securing a genuine employment opportunity upon completion of the programme.

This acting course will guide you through the fundamental techniques for playing a character with authenticity and expressiveness. From text study to scene construction, you will learn how to manage emotions, intentions and movements to bring credible performances to life both in front of the camera and on stage.

Diction Course
Speaking with clarity and intensity is essential for an actor. In the diction course you will learn the correct use of voice, Italian phonetics, articulation and intonation, eliminating speech defects and improving your expressive ability for any kind of performance.

Vocal Techniques and Singing Course
The voice is a powerful tool for an actor. In this course you will refine breathing control, use of the diaphragm and vocal projection techniques, until you approach singing as an expressive medium, useful for musical theater and film.

Dance and Scenic Movement Course
The body tells as much as the voice. Through this course you will learn to move with awareness on stage and in front of the camera, developing coordination, bodily expressiveness and mastery of stage space, which are essential for every actor.

Improvisation Course
Improvisation is a fundamental skill for a versatile actor. In this course you will learn how to react spontaneously on stage, develop a sense of rhythm, and manage interaction with other actors, honing your readiness and creativity.

Course for Passing a Casting
Facing an audition with confidence makes all the difference. In this course you’ll discover strategies for how to best prepare yourself: from analyzing the script to managing anxiety and presenting yourself effectively. You will learn how to enhance your qualities and make your mark in auditions.

The Acting course Focus Standard at Focus Movie Academy is designed for those who wish to study acting in a serious and professional way without the commitment of a full-time programme.
Through a practical approach based on on-set experience, improvisation, diction training, and audition preparation, students develop the real-world skills needed to take on castings, audiovisual productions, and film projects.
The integrated training alongside the Filmmaking course allows students to gain practical experience in front of the camera and build a solid foundation for starting a career in the entertainment industry.

The short films developed by students throughout the programme will be screened at two of Europe’s most prestigious film events, giving FMA students the opportunity to take part in a truly exceptional experience.

Florence is a truly remarkable city, especially for those with a passion for the arts.
It is also where Focus Movie Academy was founded. Our film academy in Florence is located in the historic city centre, within Palazzo Guadagni, a beautiful 16th-century building overlooking the iconic Piazza Santo Spirito.
The academy features eleven classrooms, a multimedia centre, a conference hall, a student lounge, and a rooftop terrace.
This is where our Acting and Filmmaking courses take place. How are class schedules organized?
Focus Movie Academy’s training tracks include different attendance modes designed to fit the needs of students:

Focus Pro: about 25 hours per week

Focus Standard: about 10 hours per week

Focus Lab: about 3 hours per week
This structure allows you to choose the most suitable path based on your educational goals, available time and desired level of commitment.
Is attendance compulsory?
For the course Focus Pro, attendance is not formally mandatory. However, attendance of less than the 75% results in the loss of access to the job placement guarantee stipulated in the enrollment contract.
For the courses Focus Standard and Focus Lab, attendance is not compulsory but strongly recommended, as it allows you to gain more skills and increase your chances of working in the film and audiovisual industry.
Are there exams to be taken during the course?
Yes, examinations are provided in the Focus Pro and Focus Standard tracks, while the Focus Lab has no examinations.

There are two appeals for each subject.
You can repeat the grade only once.
All subjects must be passed to complete the course. - Focus Standard
There is a single exam for passing to the next grade, which assesses the skills acquired in the various disciplines. - Focus Lab
No formal exams.

Focus Pro
The Focus Pro pathway guarantees, upon completion of the two-year or three-year course, a paid and contracted employment opportunity, as provided at the time of enrollment.
Students participate in professional projects and have the opportunity to present their work in major international settings, developing a strong network in the field.
The course trains complete professionals for film, television, advertising, social media and digital content production.
Actors are trained as all-around performers, with outlets in performing arts, entertainment and performing arts.
Focus Standard
It offers a solid preparation for entering the entertainment and audiovisual world, though without the employment guarantees of Focus Pro.
Focus Lab
It is a practical in-depth course useful for developing skills and enriching one’s professional profile.

Is it possible to study and work at the same time?
Yes, it is possible, especially in the more flexible pathways.
The courses Focus Standard and Focus Lab make it easy to balance study, work and personal commitments.
The route Focus Pro Instead, it requires more intense involvement. In some cases it can be combined with a work activity, but it is recommended for those who can devote themselves primarily to training.
When does enrollment close?
Registration is always open, but places are limited.
Each class has a maximum of 20 students.
When the maximum number is reached, enrollment is closed, even if the academic year has not yet begun.
Classes begin at November, so we recommend registering as early as possible.
By booking in advance, it is also possible to access scholarships and financial benefits at certain times, especially for the Focus Pro track.
Do I have to audition or already have experience in the field to enter the courses?
No, no audition or previous experience is required.
The courses are also open to those starting from scratch, thanks to a hands-on method based on “learning by doing.”
An interview is scheduled for the Focus Pro pathway, which is also useful for accessing scholarships and discounts.
Places are limited, so we recommend moving early.

The membership contract is valid for one year and is subject to automatic renewal.
Notice of termination can be given by July 15 of each year until the degree is obtained.
