Obtaining Visa

Obtaining a Study Visa or Residence Permit

As for obtaining a visa or a residence permit, the school offers full assistance and advice to its students who wish to study in Italy for a long period. Citizens of the European Union do not need a visa or a residence permit.

Non-EU students who intend to stay in Italy for more than three months must apply for a residence permit at the Florence Police Headquarters, the official headquarters of the Police.

Obtaining Visa

As regards obtaining a visa, it is advisable to consult the Visa Office of the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country to verify the documents required to enter Italy as a foreign student.
It is mandatory to present a copy of the Certificate of Enrolment issued by the school, which confirms enrolment in the course and the start and end dates. The Certificate of Enrolment can only be issued after having fully completed the Enrolment Form and having made full payment of the enrolment fees, the course and, if applicable, accommodation.

In the event that a visa cannot be obtained, please inform FMA prior to the start of the course to request a refund, excluding the registration fee. Failure to notify within the timeframe indicated will result in forfeiture of payment and cancellation of registration.

As of September 1, 2010, students from certain countries do not need a visa for stays in Italy of less than 90 days, as long as they have a valid passport. These countries include Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, South Korea, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Japan, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Monaco, Singapore, United States of America, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Obtaining a residence permit

To obtain a residence permit, non-EU citizens who intend to stay in Italy for more than three months must fill out the application form available at the school and submit it to the competent post office counter.
